Drupal
Drupal is a free, open-source web development platform for online content and user communities. Drupal powers some of the busiest sites on the web, and can be adapted to virtually any visual design. Drupal runs over a million sites, including WhiteHouse.gov, World Economic Forum, Stanford University, and Examiner.com.
The Only CMS
After 13 years in the industry and experience creating our own CMS, using open source and commercial products Kentico has allowed our business to flourish.
The Open Source market has some amazing products but lacked true support with SLA. See we work with large organisations where Open Source is not allowed. They have not yet grasped that concept and the
It goes beyound the features - Kentico ticks them all. It is about the support, the bug fixes and the ease of use. Not to mention the training programs, sales tools and basically great people.
If your looking for a CMS that you want to either pay for or not then Kentico is your choice.
Do yourself a favour and try out the free trials they offer. You will not be disapointed.
My Favorite Web Based Content Management System
I use Kentico CMS daily at BizStream and have personally been involved with building over 30 sites. My team and I chose Kentico as our CMS of choice after going through what seems like a normal progression of building our own custom CMS from the ground up, moving on to using and customizing open source CMS's like WordPress and Drupal, and then finally realizing that there just has to be a better way.
That better way was Kentico. I am not kidding when I say that after 2 hours of using this product I fell in love with it. Not only was it built on my favorite technologies, SQL, ASP.NET, C#, but it delivered on it's claim to be an all inclusive solution to building websites. The out of the box functionality is great, adding modules such as e-commerce, mobile friendly templates, or blogs is as simple as adding a few web parts to a page template all through the easy to use interface. Building sites with Kentico is extremely fast and easy. I love how transformations and document types are setup so that you can write content once and re-use it in many places on the site.
Another fact that really sold me was that our end customers at BizStream love the sites that we build for them. They constantly give us great feedback on how easy it is to add and update content on their websites. When my customers are happy I am happy.
The support that Kentico provides for it's products is also top notch. They are open 24/7 and respond very very quickly to any email I send. It's a great feeling to know that I always have a backup in case there is something that I cannot figure out. And if you do find a bug in their software they are committed to fixing it within 7 days, and even plant a tree in your name for every bug you find.
In Summary
Pros:
- Easy to use for Content Editors
- Full Featured Solution
- Easy to Customize / Integrate
- Highly Scalable
- Globalized
- Great Support
Cons:
- Slow build time for the full solution in Visual Studio during the development cycle (It's worth the wait though)
- Multi-site installations not 100% isolated (good or bad depending on your situation, verion 6 fixes much of this though)
I highly recommend Kentico CMS to anyone. It is a very powerful platform for small, medium, and large web sites.
